Two Chinese nationals, Biqi “Ashley” Huang and Wentian Du, surrendered on September 17 after being indicted in Missouri on immigration- and firearm-related charges. Prosecutors allege Huang made false statements during the naturalization process and misrepresented her marriage when obtaining lawful permanent resident status. She is also accused of falsely claiming to be the actual purchaser of a 9mm pistol allegedly acquired for Du. Du, who entered the United States on a visitor visa and later applied for asylum, is charged with unlawfully possessing a firearm. Huang faces up to five years in prison for the alleged naturalization-related false statement, while both defendants face up to 15 years for the firearm charges, as well as possible fines of up to $250,000 per charge. The FBI investigated the case with assistance from the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations and USCIS. The indictment contains allegations only, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
