The Department of Homeland Security announced an automatic six-month extension of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Lebanon, extending the designation from May 28, 2026, through Nov. 27, 2026. Under federal law, if DHS does not make a determination on whether a country continues to qualify for TPS at least 60 days before the designation expires, the TPS designation is automatically extended for six months. According to DHS, former Secretary Noem and current Secretary Mullin, who took office on March 24, 2026, were unable to complete an informed review of Lebanon’s TPS designation by the March 28, 2026 deadline due to rapidly evolving conditions in Lebanon. As a result, current Lebanese TPS beneficiaries who remain eligible may continue to maintain their TPS status through Nov. 27, 2026. In addition, Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) previously issued under Lebanon’s TPS designation will automatically remain valid through that same date.
