The Department of Homeland Security announced in a Federal Register notice that it is terminating Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Yemen. After reviewing current country conditions and consulting with relevant federal agencies, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem determined that Yemen no longer meets the legal requirements for TPS designation and formally announced the decision on February 13, 2026. The termination will take effect on May 4, 2026, which is 60 days after publication of the notice, and individuals affected may use the CBP Home app to report their voluntary departure from the United States once their status ends.
